Samuel is in Grade four, he lives with her grandmother who rescued him after his parents abandoned him. Both parents suffered from mental health issues and were alcoholics and have left the area. His grandmother struggles to support herself nevermind her grandson, so staff at the Roof of Africa have worked with her to help her raise him well and he is responding positively. Due to a shortage of transportation, currently he can’t attend school every day as he lives far from the school. To ensure he does not miss out too much, the team has arranged for him to attend a local school when he is unable to make it to The Roof of Africa school. So far, the plan is working, but we would like to have him join us on all school days so that he does not miss out on the school meals that other children enjoy when they attend our school. They live in severe poverty, their home is a mud hut without a bed, mattress, or mosquito nets, which puts Samuel in danger of malaria which is high in the region. They are also in desperate need of clean water and a toilet, as they have to use bushes to relieve themselves. Having these means Samuel and his grandmother would be protected from infections and other dangers connected with travelling far to get water, such as snakes and kidnapping, if they had access to clean tap water as well as saved from sexual harassment for both Samuel and his grandmother

Becoming Samuel’s school sponsor will ensure her education continues, she’ll receive two hot meals a day and also a uniform, shoes, bag and resources.
