Nancy's story
If you want to understand the life-changing difference sponsoring a child through The Roof of Africa can make, just read Nancy’s story. ❤️
Nancy has had both a school and family sponsor for several years, and we recently shared an update with her sponsor that brought wonderful news. Nancy is now thriving at secondary school and is still determined to achieve her dream of becoming a doctor. Judging by her latest exam results, she is well on her way.
But the good news does not stop with Nancy.
Her family has been carefully saving a portion of the sponsorship support they receive, and through quiet determination and sacrifice, they have achieved something truly significant — they now own two cows.
In rural Tanzania, this is far more than livestock. It is security. It is opportunity. It is hope for the future.
As the cows calve and begin producing milk, the family will have a steady income through milk sales. The cow dung will also be used as organic fertiliser for their banana and vegetable garden, improving crop yields and reducing costs. Step by step, this sponsorship is helping to build a small, self-sustaining rural economy for the whole family.
And at the heart of this story is Nancy’s mother — the quiet hero behind it all. She has worked tirelessly, made countless sacrifices without complaint, and held her family together with remarkable strength and resilience.
These cows are her achievement too.
This sponsorship did not just keep a young girl in school. It gave a mother breathing room to plan, to build, and to hope again.
Thank you to every sponsor who makes stories like Nancy’s possible. You are not just changing one life — you are helping transform entire families and futures.
